Health Battle of Single Mom Katherine Trivizo

Katherine Montoya-Trivizo is a single mother of 2 beautiful human beings and is local to Hondo, Lincoln County New Mexico and the Ruidoso area, currently residing in Las Cruces, NM.

As of March 2024, Katherine has endured 4 cancerous lumpectomies, a partial hysterectomy, double mastectomy followed by a full hysterectomy, and NUMEROUS reconstructive surgeries due to sepsis, critical nerve damage and severe infections. She again is faced with an extensive surgery, her 15th, another reconstructive surgery, coming up very quickly on March 14th, with an inconceivable amount of rehabilitation and recovery time.

In late 2018, Katherine discovered multiple tumors in both breasts. Despite numerous lumpectomies, the tumors continued to return through the beginning of 2019. A lumpectomy is in itself, an extensive surgery to remove the tumor. Katherine had to have not one, but several of these surgeries and ultimately, in September of 2019, was forced to undergo a Double Mastectomy resulting in a massive amount of missed time from work and the active lifestyle she so much enjoyed daily with her children.

Following her double mastectomy, she began the reconstructive process. which entailed breast expanders being surgically inserted and then injected with sterilized saline every 2 weeks for expansion. She made it through the first and second processes successfully but following the procedure of the third expansion, she developed an incredibly life threatening infection. She had to undergo surgery again to get rid of it.

Katherine underwent her 8th surgery December 5th, having to have an expander removed and unfortunately suffered infection and nerve damage in the healing process. During this time, Katherine was unable to complete simple tasks we all take for granted, such as washing her own hair, cooking dinner for her family, picking up and holding her children and of course, returning to work full-time. As a single mother, she has struggled to stay afloat with bills, groceries and it has even inhibited her children's extra-curricular activities.

As a single mother, the inability to return to work full-time will, of course, impact her family financially. The stress of the unknown in how she will pay for medical bills, household bills and even groceries without ANY income is insurmountable.

Any and all donations will go directly to Katherine and her children, Vivian and Kane to help with the mounting expenses. Donations will help assist this single mother while also getting back on her feet as she concentrates on HEALING for her and her children's sake.
