The Single Parent Project is now in its 3rd year with a new very deserving nominee!
Last year we were able to raise just under $2,000 for Osceola and his son Oscelle in order to purchase all the basic nessesities they needed for thier new place. I have been inspired to be able to watch how they have thrived in thier well functioning space and the way they keep it in tip top shape because they are so proud of it. I know it has had a positive and profound effect on thier daily life and wellbeing.
This year's nominee is simillarly in need of a well functioning space. Angelica and her daughter Julie have some of the basics, but are more in need of help with organization and creating a functional common living area for the two to enjoy together. Being a single parent is one of the hardest jobs I know you are responsible for making all the income, household upkeep, and keeping everything in working order. That sounds hard enough as it is, but when you have a child with special needs such as autism like Juile does, all of those responsibilites and income needs are compounded and they don't end when the child turns18 yrs old. My desire is just to help take one thing off the mind of this struggling single parent so she can focus on more important stuff. Angelica has suffered from ongoing depression and anxeity in recent years having trouble keeping everything going financially. Her good Friend Angela Emmerson nominated her for this opportunity to give her home environment a much needed boost in hopes that it will boost thier energy and ability to thrive in San Diego.
Want to know how to help? I have started this go fund me to help raise money in order to purchase household items to spruce up her space. I can also accept donations of gently used or new items that will work in the space.
