Siobhan and Eva's fundraising quiz

Donation protected
We are organizing this quiz to help us raise funds for our upcoming volunteering trips. This November Siobhan will be heading to South Africa to participate in the Mellon Educate Building Blitz and next March Eva will be volunteering with nurses in action for in Nepal.

All donations will be evenly split between our two chosen charities. Thank you so much in advance for all your support. More details on the charities and the great work they do are below.

Siobhan's Volunteering trip:

This November 2022, I will travel to Khayelitsha township in South Africa, with a population of over 1.5 million and one of the poorest townships in Cape Town; we aim to renovate schools for impoverished children living in the Khayelitsha township. I will work alongside other volunteers in the Mellon Educate Building Blitz.

Mellon Educate Building blitz is an edcuational development programme whose mission is to provide better education and, subsequently, a better chance at life for impoverished children living in South Africa's poorest townships. Each year, volunteers from all over the world gather together for seven days to partake in the week-long Building Blitz to physically build and refurbish schools and classrooms.

Mellon Educate is an Irish-based African development charity that has housed over 175,000 local people in high-grade permanent homes, built/renovated 32 schools and provided over 50,000 children with a better chance at life.

To do this, I hope to fundraise funds directly for the Mellon Educate organization. If you'd like to help, any donations would be much appreciated. Every donation counts. Thank you so much in advance for your contribution to this fantastic cause.

Eva's upcoming volunteering trip:

In March 2023, I plan to travel to Nepal as a volunteer with the Nurses in Action Program run by the World Youth International organisation.

I will stay in Nepal for a total of 23 days to assist as a volunteer alongside a group of nurses. Firstly, I will travel from Kathmandu to Pokhara, where I will volunteer in a local government hospital working in my trained Critical Care area. During this time, I will assist with the treatment of local patients as well as training and educating the local staff. Throughout my experience, I will participate in providing health awareness training to local communities when not working in the hospitals.

In the second part of my trip, I will be living in a remote Nepalese village in the Himalayas, working closely with communities that have limited access to medical services; alongside my team, I will be providing health education to local health care providers who have minimal facilities, assisting them in practice sessions for procedures and emergencies. I will also provide education and teaching in the local schools, children’s homes and women’s groups on topics such as HIV/AIDS, general hygiene and domestic violence. Throughout this time, I will be living and socialising with the locals, helping the local women in the fields and planning events at the local school, such as sports days and arts and crafts classes.

On the final day of the project, I will participate in a medical camp alongside a group of other healthcare professionals, providing free medical treatment, immunisations and education to up to 500 people from many remote villages.

World youth international is a not for profit international organisation. Therefore, I will aim to raise money for the organisation's global project funds, which go towards projects like this.

I would greatly appreciate your donations, however big or small, as your contribution can significantly impact these people's quality of life and healthcare.
