Sir Stuffington's Sbt Colectomy

Last night at around midnight, Sir Stuffington was rushed to the Emergency Veterinary Clinic. His frequent cat box trips made us believe he was suffering from a possible UTI. But what we discovered was much worse. The x-rays showed that Stuffy is suffering from severe constipation, caused by a disease called Megacolon.
Megacolon means large colon. It’s a disorder resulting from too much waste accumulation in the bowel, which causes it to enlarge. It is a terrible condition in which the large intestine is extremely dilated, has very poor motility, and there is an accumulation of fecal material that the animal can’t eliminate from his body.

We immediately underwent the initial medical treatment, which is involving him being hospitalized with around the clock care for 2 days. (totaling $3,390.00) Fluids, meds, enemas, and pain management. Unfortunately at his stage of distention surgery is going to be the only option. We have gotten a second (and a 3rd) opinion on his condition, and unfortunately have no other choice but to undergo what they call, "Sub Total Colectomy."
Subtotal colectomy is essentially the removal of the majority of the colon. After doing a lot of research and asking a lot of questions, we (the vet, my wife, and I) believe Stuffy is a good canditate for this procedure. 

I found this in some online research from the Cornell Veterinary website:
"This is major surgery, but the overwhelming majority of cats respond quite favorably. The most common postsurgical problem is diarrhea, but most cats begin to form stool of an acceptable quality within several weeks of having this procedure. Life often returns to normal, or near normal, within several weeks. Though a subtotal colectomy is not necessarily a perfect solution, the majority of people whose cats have had one are quite pleased with the results. They continue to share life with a feline friend who, without the surgery, would not have survived."

I am reaching out to Sir Stuffington's Friends, Family, and Fans, as we have taken care and paid for the first treatment and hospitalization. The financial burden of the surgery is what we are asking help with. The high end estimate is putting us at $4413.00, and as we are not cutting any corners with treatment, and are preparing ourselves the best we can. He will have medication to maintence this condition post-op, and will have a happy healthy hopefully very long life.

Unfortunately we have almost NO TIME to raise this money. He is currently hospitalized in stable condition, and finishing up the 48hr treatment. After Saturday night he is expected to be ready for surgery. I have posted his x-ray and the bill from treatment, and the estimate for his surgery.

I appreciate any and all help. There are no words to describe what this little kitty means to me and my family. I fell in love with him while I fostered him as a tiny kitten, found on the streets in Portland. When he was ready to be adopted out as a kitten I had fallen so in love with him, I couldn't let him go. He has grown up from a tiny sweet kitten into a wonderful loving silly cat. He is in every sense our cat child, and we are going to do everything we can to make sure he has many more wonderful years with us, making people smile with his perfect little pirate face.
