Sirius the Cat's ongoing vet bills

Hello. My name is Ole Roar but in some communites you will know me as Orhusby.

I'd like to present my cat Sirius to you. You can see a picture of him above. Currently Sirius is 2 years and 9 months old, so he's quite a young cat still. Lately Sirius have been struggling a bit with his health. In February he weighed 5.7 kilos (12.5 pounds). June 5th he weighed 4.2 kilos (9.25 punds), which means fom February until early June he has lost 1.5 kilos (more than 3 pounds), which of course isn't good. From being an active lively young cat he's turned into a cat that seems to be having little energy, and prefers sleeping instead of playing. He has short spells of playfulness, though, and that is a joy for both him and myself.

I felt we had to try to find out what could be the issue, so yesterday we went to the vet. The vet drew some blood, and the results were all bad - but there were definitely some issues. There were slightly higher white blood cells (Neutrophils & leukocytes), and slightly lower red blood cells (hemoglobin/erythrocytes). This means that he has an infection, and that he's also anemic. The vet could hear a murmur on his heart, but that could potentially be because he was stressed during the examination. There are also some secondary liver problems, maybe the beginning of fatty liver. You will find Sirius' test results on Twitter here: test results . There will need to be further tests to try to find out what causes these issues on his test results. He has been refered to another vet so that they can do an ultrasound on him to try to find out if there are any issues with his heart and his liver, and there might even be another referal to a third vet later.

A little more about us: My name is Ole Roar. I'm 48 years old, and I love cats. Having no family, no relatives, and basically no real life friends, my cat is my entire life. I live for him, and I would do quite a lot for him. Sirius was born August 10 2020 and he moved in with me late August 2021. He has been my only company since he moved in with me. I am on disability benefits, and being to a veterinarian in Norway is very expensive. That's why I, unfortunately, had to put the goal as high as it is, and it might even be more expensive than that.

Yesterday's vet bill was 5 606 NOK ( USD 505 , EUR 473, GBP 407 ) but I had to request to pay on credit, which raised the sum a lot, to a total of 8 274 NOK ( USD 746, EUR 698, GBP 600 ). These totals could go up quite a bit later on, depending on how many vet visits is needed to find the problems.
