Hello!
Meet Sirius Joy, our family's precious dog. She first changed our lives just a year ago. She found us while running in the fields near our house with another dog. We worked with the local shelters and found that although a man had been caring for her, she was not his, and was happy for us to adopt her. It seems like she has been with us forever, full of love and joy, changing our family in the best ways.
Friday, October 23rd, our beautiful dog had gotten out of the yard and as my Mom called her in, she was hit by a car that was neither seen nor heard until it was too late.
Amazingly she survived the hit, but not without serious injuries. Both of her back legs were fractured, her hip was dislocated, and one of her legs lost most of the skin. She also had a few more minor abraisions on her upper body. Thankfully she had no internal injuries.
She is now at an emergency vet and they were able to get her hip back into place. She is scheduled for her first surgery on Monday, October 26th, to repair her right lower leg fractures. Her left leg is more serious and cannot be operated on until the skin regrows (grafts) which could take over a month and needs daily veterinary wound care until it heals, at which time she can have her second surgery.
As you can imagine the cost for all of her care is quite significant and beyond our financial means. We are only able to pay in part.
We our asking our friends and comunity to consider helping us with Siri's veterinary costs as she means so much to us and brings so much joy into the world.
