Sisterhood Fitness 2.0

In October 2016, Sisterhood Fitness officially opened to the community! We are the only local fitness and community center exclusively for women in Hamtramck. Sisterhood Fitness is a project of the Hamtramck Community Initiative, a 501c3 non-profit.

Since then we have served over one hundred different women in our space on Joseph Campau in Hamtramck. One faithful member lost 40lbs coming every day the gym was open. Run solely by volunteers, we are open six days a week and offer a variety of exercise classes, access to exercise equipment, and one-on-one instruction. Sisterhood Fitness also provides space for an ESL program.

Women pay $30 a month to access the gym, but this only helps subsidize our operating costs. By October 2017 we are transitioning to a part-time paid director and need to raise $42,200, which will cover the remainder of our operating costs over the next fiscal year, make space improvements needed to attract new members, and offer scholarships. This will help us serve the community and grow our membership base. Your support is key in keeping Sisterhood Fitness an integral part of Hamtramck.
