Sister Library, a beacon of hope, resilience, and celebration. We are not just a library; we are a sanctuary, a community-owned and community-run oasis devoted to honouring the remarkable contributions of women. Within our physical space, all are welcome, as we open our doors wide to provide access to a wealth of knowledge. We serve as a lending library, a nurturing resource center, a haven for creative endeavors, a place to reflect, and forge connections. It is here that the tapestry of sisterhood is woven, knowledge is forged, and the flames of feminist activism are lovingly nurtured. The inception of our journey finds its roots in the visionary Indigenous artist, aqui Thami. Her aspiration to heal in community gave rise to this remarkable endeavour. The Sister Library stands as a living testament to her unwavering dedication.

When Sister Library embarks on its travels to cities and towns across India and the world, we curate a collection of printed materials that harmonize with the unique pulse of each locality. In these journeys, we unveil an immersive experience, an experimental reading and reflecting room that transcends the limits of geography, inviting visitors to explore, connect, and transform.

Our existence is a testament to the power of community spirit, self-funded and fueled by the dedication of countless volunteers and the enduring support of thousands of visitors. Together, we have etched a story of strength and resilience, a testament to the enduring beauty and emotional resonance of women's voices. Join us in this magnificent journey, where every page turned is a step toward a more inclusive and empowering world. Sister Library is not just a space; it is a profound testament to the strength of the human spirit and the enduring power of art and knowledge.

Here's a glimpse of what we do:
Walking with Savitri Mai Fellowship: We proudly support girls from their school years through university, echoing the indomitable spirit of our foremother, Savitri Mai. She defied all odds to establish the first school for girls, and we carry forward her legacy by nurturing the next generation of trailblazing women.

Sister Press: As pioneers of a community-based risograph printing press, we bring you the "Sister Times," a bimonthly feminist newspaper, and "Sister Zine," a monthly zine. Our words are the echoes of feminist voices, amplifying the stories that deserve to be heard.
Sister Radio: Step into an intimate audio encounter where we converse with sisters about culture and history, fostering alternative ways of life beyond the dominant perspectives. Through interviews and discussions, we build a community of sister supporters.

Monsoon School: Run by women, for women, the Monsoon School is an alternative art school where creativity knows no bounds. Here, we nurture artistic talents and create a safe space for women to explore and express themselves.

Library Events: Our calendar is filled with enriching activities, including our monthly feminist movie nights, feminist freeskool, community potlucks, Sister Library Opportunity Shop, and the Reading Women Book Club, to name just a few.

Join us in celebrating women by making a financial contribution your support ensures that our
mission continues to thrive.
