Skippy Girls re vamp Art for Public Spaces.

Hi.

My name is Rosemary .

26 years ago I lived on Wilson St near Carriageworks. Facing a very dull grey corrugated iron fence. Depressing.

I painted a Skippy Girl on one panel then another and another. With donations of paint from happy neighbours. Every few years I go back and re paint the girls.

They are now in their 26th year and are the oldest graff piece in Sydney (I am told)

Fast forward 26 years. And Transport NSW has declared the girls modern history on the eve of tearing them down as part of their redevelopment. Plans are. Apparently. To incorporate the girls in the new development.

Before that happens I want to give them one last huzzah. Send them into the future looking their best. They were in a fairly bedraggled state at recently. Hence the crowd funding. Previously I have always paid for all paint and or worked with donations. This time I am asking for some funds towards paint and time. Two great kids to feed is a different story to my footloose youth.

many thanks to the 40 or so volunteers that painted the background panels on Saturday. I painted all the girls and finished the last one on Sunday midday.
