Donate to help single mom own an alternative home

Hey, y’all! My name is Abria! I’m raising funds to purchase a fully converted skoolie, that is, a school bus that has been converted into an RV, in cash, as a means to achieve homeownership for myself and my family. I have until May 31st before I have to move.

I am a single mom of 3 and I have been struggling, financially, since very early on in the pandemic 2020 to afford basic needs. I was laid off in April 2020, was able to find employment for about 6 months, and was laid off again in December 2020. I started 2020 employed in 2 jobs, working 6 days a week and despite my best efforts of completing hundreds of job applications over the past 2 years, I have not been able to reenter the workforce in a way that would meet my family’s current needs and circumstances.

I have been caught in a cycle of raising funds to narrowly avoid eviction nearly every other month and afford basic needs but it isn’t sustainable. I also realized that even working 2 jobs to keep my house afloat and doing delivery driving on the side, like I was and have on and off for years is also unsustainable. It takes valuable time away from my being with my children fully, even in the time I am not ‘on the clock’. In the long run, having done the latter for about 10 years, it has not and does not appear to be beneficial to my family.

I plan to fundraise for a skoolie to live in full-time as a form of alternative housing. I believe this will be the best way for me to provide a stable, albeit, ‘mobile’, home, as well as provide enrichment for me and my children given our current circumstances. Once we own the skoolie, I plan to work freelance as a writer and artist to sustain myself and my kids. Our monthly expenses will also be cut at least in half making our cost of living more affordable.

I’m asking that people reading this understand me to be a mother trying to figure out what works best for her and her family in providing what they need. I am the sole provider and I am tasked to provide for myself and my family in a way that is not harmful and is safe for my children. I feel this is a way that will allow me to do that. I am asking people to support me in these efforts by sharing this fundraiser and at least $1 of their funds because if 30,000 people support in this way I can make this goal and not take too much from other people’s survival either.
