Sky Feline Cancer Vet Fund
Donation protected
On Monday June 11, 2018 our 5 year old Siamese cat Sky was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has cancerous tumors all over her under carriage and is in need of a radical mastectomy surgery which will cost between $700-$1,000. The vet bill from the other day was already several hundred dollars just for the checkup, diagnosis, and x-rays. The vet did not find any sign of the cancer metastasizing (spreading) into her organs, which was very good news. That means they can do the surgery to remove the cancerous tumors and there's a chance that will heal her and the cancer will be gone. She may also need to see an veterinary oncologist however to get chemo, but we'll cross that bridge after her initial surgery.
She is my wife and I and our other two cats' family. Last year, January of 2017, she survived a house fire we had with some smoke inhalation damage and conjunctivitis of the eyes from the smoke. We do not know if this exacerbated or caused her cancer. Breast cancer is more common in both Siamese and Persian cats, so she was already at a higher risk because of that. Female cats who are not spayed within the first 6 months of their life are also at a much higher risk of developing breast cancer, and she was not spayed until she was over 2 years old, which greatly increased her chances of developing mammary cancer.
We love her so much and want her to at least live to see 10 years old at a minimum, but without this surgery she'll be lucky to live to see 6 or 7. She's only 5 now! My wife had uterine cancer herself about 8 years ago and as a result had a hysterectomy, so she is unable to have children. Our cats are like our children to us.
Any amount of monetary donation is greatly appreciated. If you cannot make a monetary donation, simply keeping us and Sky in your thoughts and prayers will be greatly appreciated. Also, sharing our GoFundMe page would be greatly helpful and much appreciated.
Thank you for caring and God bless you.
