Sky jump for St Joseph's Special School, Galway
Donation protected
St Joseph's Special School, under the patronage of the voluntary organisation Ability West, provides kids 4-18 years old with a moderate general learning disability a safe environment to learn and grow academically, physically, socially and emotionally. The teachers and all the staff are an incredible bunch of dedicated, compassionate, patient and caring people who have created a very child centred environment designed to accommodate individual learning so that all the pupils may experience success! My daughter attends this school, so I have first hand experience and appreciation of the hard work and commitment by all who work in the school.
With Covid 19 and lockdown it has been an undoubtedly challenging time for most, but for the kids that attend St Joseph's school this has been all so true and extremely challenging for both the kids and their families as their daily routines have been completely turned upside down causing enormous stress and agitation. Challenging behaviour as well as regression in some areas of life have become all too common for these kids and their families in the last few months with the disruption of the stability that the daily routine of schooling brings. Many of these children have compromised immune systems and are among some of the most vulnerable in our society. For the safe return to school, continued education and some form of normality for them, I am reaching out to you for your help to raise valuable funds required to meet the needs of each and everyone of these wonderful children.
This fundraiser is by my husband, my 16 year old son and myself. On 24th Oct we will through the Irish Parachute club do a skydive from 13000ft. This will push me totally out of my comfort zone as I am terrified of heights.....and I mean terrified!! Some of these kids spend much of their time living outside their comfort zone just to fit in to what society deems acceptable! So, just to step out of my comfort zone for this short time is in recognition and admiration for all these children for everything they do and achieve in their lives.
Please dig deep and support if you can, help me reach my target. With much thanks to you all.
