With most consumers associating fast and reliable Internet services with fiber optic technologies, the cost-prohibitive access to the incumbent fiber optic last mile allegedly impedes other independent telecom providers' ability to compete in Canada, which has some of the world's highest costs for Internet services. Canada's large incumbent telecom providers are the main contributors to this issue as they work tirelessly to maintain their stranglehold over independent Internet Service Providers by leasing their FTTH infrastructure to them at “ludicrous rates” well above their retail pricing.

SkyChoice Communications works tirelessly in providing affordable and reliable telecom services across Canada and is a proud member of the Competitive Network Operators of Canada (CNOC) and the Canadian Association of Wireless Internet Service Providers (CanWISP). Their WIFI.BE wireless fiber Internet service provides fast and reliable broadband to many communities across southern Ontario, many of which had minimal affordable options before the service started being offered.
