Jess skydives for Kinergy

Hello treasured friends and family,

This coming June, I shall be taking a leap of faith and surrendering to the skies in a 15000 ft skydive to raise funds for Kinergy.

Kinergy is a Bristol-based charity dedicated to offering fully inclusive, accessible therapy to adult survivors of sexual abuse and violence, many of whose experiences were in childhood. *

This is an incredibly significant cause to me as for the past 2.5 years, I have had the privilege of being part of the Kinergy community, working as both a 1:1 and Group Therapist.

In 1:1 therapy, survivors are offered specialist therapy to begin to find ways to make meaning to their experiences in an environment where stories are held with great respect, care and compassion.

Kinergy also offers a number of groups (Eco-Therapy, Somatic Body Mapping and Wellbeing Group) which can improve wellbeing and transformative opportunities through connection to nature, creativity and community.

To give an insight into the work supported by the organisation, I have included above some pictures of the remarkable artwork created by previous Somatic Body Mapping Group members/artists at Kinergy. In June 2024, we shall be beginning another of these groups.

This arts and body focused therapy group aims to nurture the voices and creative spirit of those who join together in the group. It's a chance for participants to begin to regain trust and joy in their bodies, connect with other survivors and creatively explore who they are becoming on their healing journey.

* Sexual abuse and violence can have a shattering impact on survivors' lives, leaving long-lasting impact on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of survivors, as well as the impact on friends and families.

Engaging in conversations about sexual abuse can be uncomfortable and distressing, and so often these stories are silenced and isolated to the shadows.

Speaking up, speaking out and coming together with others can help to raise awareness, shift social narratives and enhance a sense of collective power, courage, hope and colour alongside the darkness and pain.
