Skylar's Relocation-Graduation Fund
Donation protected
UPDATE: Wow. Like actually wow. Thank you all so much for the support, I cannot believe I surpassed my goal in the last 24 hours. I am so grateful for the network of friends, colleagues, acquaintances, and complete strangers who saw fit to help me. I'm literally awed, this will not be forgotten (aka if I ever win any type of award, I will first thank my mom, and then thank all you lovely and generous GoFundMe donors). Thank you.
As I close this GoFundMe (which is surprisingly hard to figure out, if you know how message me lmao), I thought it important to share some incredibly vital and important funds you might also open your purse for. These organizations are doing deeply needed work for Black womxn and trans folk.

Tl;dr: I'm moving to LA to pursue my screenwriting dreams, I'm broke af, and I would infinitely appreciate your (financial) support as I make this leap.
[NOTE: Gofundme takes a not insignificant portion of people's donations (something like 2.9% + .30 cents?), so if you care to avoid that pitfall, feel free to Venmo @skylar-bree-takyi or Cashapp $skylarbree. I will keep a tally here of all the donations so it can reflect my status. Thanks so much!
UPDATE: $5235/5000 (inclusive of GoFundMe donations]
Hi friends - back at it again with another plea for money. Lol but more seriously, my name is Skylar-Bree Takyi, I turned 22 like a week ago, I'm a recent graduate of Harvard University, and an aspiring screenwriter. I interned in LA for the past two summers: the first summer I interned at FX Networks and was funded by kind friends, family, and acquaintances who donated to my GoFundMe, and the second summer I interned at HBO and was funded by a grant I received from Harvard for my commitment to cross-cultural and institutional diversity. I'm a planner, and I'd initially intended to wait to move until I had a secure income; however, a recent interview revealed that not being in LA right now might be the very thing that keeps me from landing that first opportunity to break in.
I'm a low-income kid, and I've financially supported myself in college by maintaining 2-3 jobs during the school year, summer internships, and Harvard grants I've been blessed to receive for my achievements. Although I've saved what I could from these sources over the years, moving across the country is nonetheless a financial challenge. This money will be put directly toward my flight from Houston to LA, a deposit and first month's rent on an apartment, and offsetting some of the cost of the used car I hope to buy using my savings. I know that this in an incredibly challenging time on so many fronts, and there are many worthy causes deserving of all our spare change – so I'd be truly humbled and infinitely grateful if you saw fit to help me as I chase this dream. Thank you so much!
