Skyla's Birthday Life Improvements

Donation protected
I'm Skyla. You may remember me from such hits as--

Wait, I don't have any hits.

Basically, I'm at that stage of life where I am fortunate to be surrounded by incredible friends, but I don't have a lot of need for extra "stuff" when it comes to gifts. What I very much need help with is quality of life things that cause a lot of stress and mental (and something physical) clutter, big expenses well outside my budget.

  • Junk removal. I'm in a second-storey apartment, I don't drive, and I cannot get rid of things like an old treadmill, an old bedframe, and other old furniture without hiring help. These are large items that can't go out with the regular trash. I'm budgeting $500 for this. It might be less but there's an old broken treadmill, which gets pricier to remove, so I'm being safe.
  • Vet bills. I always have a lot of vet bills and even as I save up, some things are far outside my budget. There's Shawn's yearly (many of you know my Crime Child) where I like a professional to give his heart a good listen and do his bloodwork to check for any problems. Then there's Libby, who has chronic health problems and there's still some money in her account but I think we might be creeping toward having quality-of-life discussions. Also there's that elderly gent there Rodney Ballsnomore, who has Big Jorts Energy and also anemia with no known cause. It's slowly progressing so we need another round of bloodwork, probably some B12 shots. and another test to see if that's helping. That's the other part of the goal here, $500, which doesn't cover all of this but will make a bit of a dent while I take are of the rest of the costs.

PIPE DREAM GOALS
  • An ultrasound for Rodney to look for a cause for his anemia. $1000 is a lot of money and I've put this off for a year but I just can't get it saved up on my own.
  • A new bed. Yeah, my mattress has been on the floor since January. There's one with drawer from IKEA I'd like, which will involve a delivery fee (and I need the junk removal to make some space so I can put it together). That would be another $700.
  • A new laptop. My old workhorse died earlier this year and I'm using my friend's old one as a backup. As I'm a graphic designer, it would be nice to get a new one, so $1000 pipe dream toward THAT would be great.

I don't expect all that, but those are my priorities. Getting the junk removal would be a big help. Knowing I can cover some of the vet bills would take such a load off my mind.

I absolutely loathe asking for help. It's been an extremely rough year with a couple of back to back vet emergencies, extra medication costs for one of my health issues, back taxes, and just everyday stuff, and I've been extremely lucky with friends helping out here and there, so I don't want anyone to feel obligated. It's my birthday, though, and for anyone who wants to do something that I would benefit from, this is it. This is what I need and what will do the most good for me right now, as boring as it might seem.
