Help A Childhood Cancer Survivor Achieve His Dreams Of Becoming A Cinematographer!
This campaign is to raise money to help a friend of mine achieve his dreams of becoming a Cinematographer, and THRIVE as a childhood cancer survivor. Skyler is 15-years old, and like myself is a Survivor of blood cancer. Skyler was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on September 7, 2012. He endured more than 3-years of chemotherapy and radiation and is now in remission. Skyler completed treatment in December of 2015 and is nearly a year off treatment and cancer free.
I have been connected to Skyler's journey via a pediatric cancer foundation that I'm a board member of since the very beginning of his treatment. Since that time, Skyler and I have become good friends and I consider him part of my extended family. He's an intelligent, caring, and gifted kid who has a passion for photography and film making. Skyler's dream is to become a cinematographer, and I'd like to help him get one step closer to that goal.
Right now Skyler maintains his own YouTube channel and shoots short films as well. He's also very good at editing and using programs like Adobe Premiere and After Effects. He probably knows more about those programs than an entry-level film student. The problem is that his camera is pretty dated and a bit beat up. It's just a little Sony Cybershot camera and it is literally being held together by rubber bands and duct tape. I'd like to raise enough money so that he can purchase a good professional DSLR photography/video kit to take his talent to the next level.
If just 400 people could donate $10 each, we could have enough funds for Skyler to purchase himself a new camera in not time at all. The anniversary of his NED (No Evidence of Disese - or clear cancer scans) is coming up on September 26th, and will mark 4 years of being cancer free. Help me raise enough money to present him with the best Survivor's anniversary present ever.
Thanks for your support!
P.S. - Skyler's mother, Evangeline Clark, is fully aware of this fundraiser and is supportive of it. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly at and I'll be happy to answer any questions or put you in contact with his mother.
