Sky's Open Heart Surgery Expenses

Hello my friends this is Emily Clauson. Today I am humbly creating this fundraiser for a dear friend of mine, Sky. In the picture above, Sky is on the far right. In the last few years, they have become like another child of mine. Sky is my son Jack's close friend and roommate. They also work together at Marcus Movie theater in Oshkosh.

I created this fundraiser to help with travel expenses to and from the hospital in Madison, as well as any miscellaneous expenses that come up in the next few months.

A few days ago Sky had their aortic valve replaced via open heart surgery due to severe aortic stenosis. The surgeon performed what is called the Ross procedure. However the day after that procedure, Sky was taken back into the OR due to complications. At this time they are still heavily sedated because of swelling.

Originally their hospital stay would be around 7-10 days. Now it is looking like it will be longer. Initially they were told to expect to be out of work for 8-12 weeks. During which they will be undergoing ext extensive physical therapy.

Sky's family lives down south. So Jack, Jack's partner Nico and my family are their Wisconsin family. Jack and Nico were able to stay in Madison for a few nights, however had to go back to Oshkosh because of work. They are hoping to go to Madison again on Thursday to be there for Sky when they are awake. They will also be the ones to pick Sky up when they are discharged.
