Slaughter Family Farm Recovery Fund

My name is Justin Slaughter and I am the owner of Slaughter Family Farm in Finchville, KY. Our farm is a small regenerative multi-species family farm. The work we do here and for our community is 100% of our income.

On Wednesday morning of 09/21, I went out to our woodlots to check up on one of our pig herds. Upon arriving, I discovered gate locks missing, cattle/pig panels removed, an energizer gone and the majority of our pigs seizing on the ground.

After further investigation, I found what appeared to be rolled oats (or wheat) mixed with what I believed were raccoon repellent and red pellets spilled on the outskirts of the pig paddock they were in that runs by the creek in the woods.

After conferring with a vet, we determined that our pigs had been heavily poisoned. That evening, We ended up having to put down some pigs. The remainder of the herd will be unable to go to butcher, leaving us short of much needed cash flow going into winter.

We are transporting the pigs we had to put down to have a necropsy and fecal test run so that we may ascertain what they were poisoned with.

We are asking the community's help to give us the ability to bring in more piglets and purchase some pork from neighboring farms to fulfill our many customer orders. The money collected here will only be used to help indemnify us.
