Brendan Doyle- Irish Skeleton
My name is Brendan Doyle. I am an Irish winter athlete racing in the sport of Skeleton.
I have two main goals. First is to qualify and represent my country at the Beijing Winter Olympic games.
Second, I want to be an example for anyone who is suffering with depression, PTSD, anxiety or those feeling there's no hope that things can change and it's not as impossible as you may think . Given time and finding what works for you not only can you beat it, but you'll be stronger for the struggles you've been through. I have gone from nearly losing everything to now fighting for an Olympic spot.
I have committed everything to be a high performing athlete and have been self funded for many years. This is the most important year of my life and I need to do everything I can to not only make it, but to be competitive, and that includes asking for help.
My projected expenses for the upcoming season are as follows:
Sliding coach |€10,000
Air Fare |€6,000
Overweight luggage fees (sled/equipment) |€2,000
Car Rental |€7,000
Accommodation |€10,000
Track/Training |€3,000
Incidentals (food,petrol,insurance) |€6,000
Equipment |€6,000
TOTAL EXPENSES
€50,000
I am a lucky recipient of funding from Irish Olympic Federation but this funding will only go so far and I need as much help as possible to make it the rest of the way.
If you want to find out more about my life changing experience as a Garda (police officer) in Dublin and how I've pushed through into the world of elite sports, I have attached a interview, which was an incredible conversation with Irish sports broadcaster, John Duggan.
I understand that not everyone is in the position to help so sharing this link will go a long way and hopfully Ireland's flag will be flown in Beijing.
Should you want to donate without gofundme fees being taken, my athlete paypal is attached below.
