Sligo All Stars Hoops for Heroes

Hoops for Heroes - 10,000 shots on the 1 August 2020.
As we all know sporting activities were cancelled in March due to the Covid19 Pandemic and onset of government restrictions. The knock on effect of these restrictions meant a number of our fundraising activities were cancelled leaving the club in a difficult financial position.
Looking forward to the season ahead and being able to resume play in a safe environment for all club members is key and we need your help to raise funds to assist with this.
When deciding how to raise funds for the club we knew we wanted to give back to the community of Sligo in some way.
As a community, Sligo has pulled together over the last few months in amazing fashion, helping those in need in so many different ways. Throughout the pandemic there have been so many people putting themselves forward and none more so than the personnel at Sligo University Hospital.
So with that in mind we have come together with Friends of Sligo University Hospital to raise some vital funds for the charity.
Friends of Sligo University Hospital aim is to supplement the services provided by the HSE and hospital for the health, welfare and comfort of patients to raise funds to help both organisations navigate through these difficult times.
We are asking you to shoot Hoops for Heroes #hoopsforheroessligo on the 1 August 2020.
As a club we have set a target of 10,000 shots in one day.
So here’s how you can get involved:
1. Pledge your shots prior to the 1st August 2020 using #hoopsforheroessligo and share the link to the GoFundMe page.
2. On the day when you’re finished your shots take a selfie or video telling us how many shots you completed. Shots can be taken anywhere, your garden, local park, all you need is a hoop and a ball !
Feel free to nominate a friend anywhere in the world to help us reach our target.
No hoop no problem pledge your support by donating to the cause.
3. Post on your social media tagging EJ Sligo All-Stars telling us how many shots you took (use the hashtags #hoopsforheroessligo)
4. Finally, donate to the GoFundMe campaign.
The funds are going to be split 50/50 between EJ Sligo All Stars and the Friends of Sligo University Hospital charity.
We will be set up on the day in the Mercy providing time slots for our underage groups to get your shots up (while keeping within HSE guidelines).
Every shot counts so we encourage all club members young and old, past and present to get out on 1st August, stick on your club colours and don't forget to donate.
Thank-you in advance for your participation, it is very much appreciated.
