SLO 15-Hour Sit-In for The Brigid Alliance

SLO Sit-In is a group of community activists working to raise funds for those in need. We’re organizing a sit-in in on Saturday, July 16 from 5:30 am to 8:30 pm at the San Luis Obispo Superior Court (1050 Monterey St.) in  San Luis Obispo, California. We're protesting the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade while also raising funds for The Brigid Alliance, an organization that assists individuals with accessing safe abortion care.

 

Like many others, we are outraged and disgusted with the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the 50-year super-precedent that was set by Roe vs. Wade which protected an individual’s right to safe and legal abortions. The restriction of reproductive rights throughout the United States of America is undemocratic, unconstitutional, and discriminatory.

 

While this decision will impact everybody in this country, it will disproportionately impact marginalized communities including people of color, low-income, LGBTQ+, and transgender individuals, along with many others. Our goal of $12,500 will allow at least ten individuals to receive access to safe abortions regardless of where they live, thanks to the Brigid Alliance.

 

The Brigid Alliance removes barriers to abortion access by providing individuals with access to transportation, housing, meals, childcare, and a full support system. To learn more about the organization, visit their website here.
