"SLUGGER" Budget Fundraiser
Greetings from Shock Artist Pictures.
A little bit about ourselves.
Shock Artist Pictures started in Calgary, Alberta as horror-themed boudoir photography, and continued to do so for the better part of a decade in Vancouver, British Columbia.
During their time in Vancouver, Shock Artist Pictures began to take inspiration from the ever-growing film industry that was surrounding them and made the slow transition from photography to short film production, starting with their 2023 actioner, "Kill Or Be Killed".
"Kill Or Be Killed", made on a budget of $5000 with a 3-person crew and 2 lead actors,
went on to become an Audience Choice Finalist in the Lift-Off First-Time Filmmaker Sessions in September 2023, and made official selection at the 2023 Chicago Filmmaker Awards in the few short months that it ran through the film festival circuit.
With the $5000 budget we were able to apply for film festivals, host a theatre release, and specialized equipment, along with props. A portion of that initial budget went towards the collaboration with the incredible practical FX craftsmanship of Audrey Gutsche,
owner and Head-of-Department of Scarlet Skull Makeup.
Fast Forward to 2024, and Shock Artist Pictures is getting ready to roll on their next short film project, "SLUGGER".
Going back to their horror roots, writer/director Edward T. Jones will be behind the camera to film a loving homage to the movies that inspired it,
"From Dusk Till Dawn" and
"Texas Chainsaw Massacre part 3", with Scarlet Skull Makeup returning to bring the mayhem & chaos with more exciting practical FX wizardry in the works.
Without giving too much away about the project, the crime thriller/horror flick has an exciting new character that Shock Artist Pictures is proud to introduce to audiences and the horror genre:
The Louisville Slugger.
And with cameras set to roll this August, we are asking for people to for help with contributing towards our $3000 startup budget to our new exciting project, "SLUGGER". Funds will be going towards paying our amazing FX artist, specialized equipment, film festival applications, and a theatrical release. We want to pour into our special FX as these elements are imperative to the film’s success. Film Festival applications can range from free to $150 each and is how we can showcase the hard work of everyone.
Here's how we plan to use these funds:
Pre-Production
•Equipment: $1000
(camera, lights, sound gear)
Production
•Makeup/FX: $2000
