Manchester Marathon 2024 for Westmeria Counselling

This year I am running the Manchester Marathon and raising money in aid of Westmeria Counselling Services Ltd, based in Bromley, and every donation will help.

Many of you will know about my close connection with mental health services, in particular through the work I do at Bethlem Royal Hospital, in helping set up and run the weekly parkrun there, but also due to the difficult times we have faced as a family with my daughter's own mental health issues and, in particular, her battle against Anorexia.

We are fortunate that we got help at the time of Annie's anorexia from the famed Maudsley Hospital and thereafter through a variety of counselling services, including Westmeria.

Many people do not have easy access to mental health services and Westmeria carry out an essential function in providing low cost or even free counselling service to people who cannot afford the enormous costs that are often associated with private mental health counselling services.

Westmeria are the official charity of the year for 2024 for my great running club; Petts Wood Runners (photo credits Kev Howarth).
