SMALL CHANGE-BIG HELP FOR INDIE ARTS IN DFW

Donation protected

WHY HELP?

Our stories and how we tell them are essential to our American cultural identity. They are the threads of what weaves us together, made up of the fibers of our common experiences and of the understanding of our differences, uniting us all as reminders of the human condition.

WHY SMALL INDEPENDENT ARTS GROUPS?
Independent performing arts groups are the frontline of making this tapestry accessible to all. In this unprecedented time of uncertainty in the arts, these smaller organizations are at greater risk of collapse and often at a disadvantage when it comes to large scale COVID 19 relief programs and emergency grant processes. FORTUNATELY, THEY ARE ALSO THE EASIEST TO HELP.

HOW MUCH TO GIVE AND THE IMPACT?
Without a lot of overhead, facility concerns or layers of infrastructure, even the smallest donations can go directly to the very core of the missions of these groups: to share our stories with our community. Your donation makes a noticeable impact! It is also these organizations that will get a large number of DFW’s artists back to work right when the all clear sounds. Your contribution, no matter the size, will in large part go to getting our local creatives back to doing what they do, with a variety of places to do it at and audiences to do it for.

WHO ARE YOU HELPING?
This fundraiser benefits 16 independent performing arts organizations in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area. They represent a range of disciplines, types of content and reach. Classic theatre, dance, classical music, Black theatre, cabaret entertainment, LQBTQ theatre, movement theatre, youth theatre/arts education, devised work and even circus arts are all included based on a simple idea and a simple premise:

·         The specific niches these organizations serve, combined, make up a larger base to reach out to for funding than they could reach on their own.

·         Through their spirit of community in joining a collective campaign, and that same sense of community among DFW audiences and arts supporters, the very best of crowdfunding can combine and benefit us all.

THIS FUNDING CAMPAIGN LASTS ONLY 30 DAYS SO THE ORGANIZATIONS GET THE FUNDS THEY NEED NOW.  FUNDS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED EQUALLY AMONG ALL ORGANIZATIONS.

THE BASELINE GOAL
$24,000=$1500 for each organization
(This amount could get them in the race for space when things get back to normal, pay core creatives now who are working on their postponed offerings, allow them to put time and effort into getting more needed relief funding or even aid them in bringing you streaming arts offerings, now).

Below is the list of the benefiting groups from this campaign, created and run by producer Bren Rapp, who is not passing on any costs/fees associated with this effort to the organizations. The amounts donated go to them, in full.  Each organization meets the qualifications of: an operating budget under 6 figures, 0-5 actual full-time employees, they do not operate performance spaces and keep their work accessible through an average ticket price of no greater than $25 (usually much less). Some are newer, some run as nonprofits, some do not:

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
These organizations and the rest of your community will see you at the theater (or elsewhere) soon!

*Feeling extra generous? For those donating $1,000 or over, 60% of your donation can be designated for a single organization with 40% distributed among the rest of the collective. You can show some love to the organization that you “clicked” for and do something great for this entire group of folks dedicated to bringing the performing arts to DFW and your community!

*Do you run a business or work for a company wanting to impact their community? Contact Bren Rapp through GoFundMe to learn how to get involved with various donation matching options and how you can let people know your company cares about Arts & Culture through this effort.
