Small Mom and Pop needs your help in New York.
Hi. I'm Dan Hammer, and I'm fundraising for Donna Schofield. She owns Stationery and Toy World on West 72nd street in New York City. She's been in business since the late 1980's. The city of NY has charged her with Covid price gouging to the tune of $12,475. This is a crime for someone that wears her heart on her sleeve in this upper west side neighborhood.
Paraphrased from the article in the West Side Rag... Stationery & Toy World has made it through some enormous challenges over the years, but its latest might be the most difficult. A price-gouging charge from the city has left the store in a precarious financial position, and the owner is asking for help navigating a bureaucracy she says misunderstood her actions. The typical Mom and Pop retailer usually doubles their cost when selling an item. Donna usually marks up 30 - 40%. That's less than most retailers. A Judge has denied her appeal.
I'm asking everyone to help support Donna, and she needs the help. If you can spare $25 or $500, please help her to say open. If you know a good lawyer, let me know.
Thanks for your support.
