Small Things Matter: Summer Donation Drive
Tax deductible
Small Things Matter provides 1000 food insecure families in Takoma Park, Silver Spring, and Rockville, MD with food support.
Since March 2020 we have distributed over 1.2 million pounds of food.
We are raising funds so that we can continue to provide families in need with fresh produce, staples such as rice and beans, meat, toiletries, and other basic supplies during the summer months. Barriers of transportation and time work against these families in securing food. We try to address this problem by directly serving families at their apartment buildings, saving them time and making it easier for them to access much needed food. We also host food distributions to help families that are scattered throughout the county access food.
It's been just over one year since the COVID-19 pandemic catastrophically altered our world sending families who were already struggling to make ends meet into financial despair as they lost their jobs as businesses were closed down out of safety concerns. These families found additional challenges as schools went online, forcing them to make the choice to either find childcare or to stay at home to help their children navigate the challenges of online learning.
Unfortunately families are still very much in need of support today. Our country is just starting to open up again, but it will take at least 10 more months for businesses to recover, meaning that these families will still greatly rely on our food support as they work to get back on their feet.
Please help us ensure that these families have enough to eat this summer. A donation of any amount is greatly appreciated and will make a positive difference. We are a 100% volunteer-run 501(3)c nonprofit and 100% of your donation will go to help feed those in need.
Thanks for your kind support!
On behalf of our team,
