Small Hands with Helping Hearts

Donation protected
Small Hands with Helping Hearts started with an indignant exclamation from Ashley Sinn, age 8.

"But that's NOT FAIR!"

She had heard that her mom spent the day with her coworkers giving back to the community at a local food bank.  Ashley wanted to help, but the rules were that all volunteers needed to be over the age of 14.

"Kids can help!  I'm a great helper and my friends are, too!"

The search for age and attention span appropriate volunteer opportunities was on.  Small Hands with Helping Hearts has cleaned up beaches, assisted with organization at a transitional housing facility and, most recently, founded a community garden in partnership with South Hayward Parish in Hayward, CA.

The kids are in charge here.  Any one with questions will be directed to a Small Hand for answers.  Adults, or Big Hands, are there to drive the cars, fill out the paperwork and help run the power tools.  And snacks, the Big Hands buy the snacks.

Donations made to this campaign will help with a project close to Ashley's heart.  Last year during the holiday season, Ashley's Hot Choklit for the Homeless GoFundMe campaign raised money in conjunction with the festive stand in front of her home to create care packages for the homeless.  These packages contained food and toiletries and were donated to the South Hayward Parish for distribution to their clients who come to the facility for showers.

This year, Hot Choklit for the Homeless will start up again when the weather (finally) turns cooler in California, but we're gearing up now.  Small Hands with Helping Hearts will be hosting a spaghetti feed in mid-December to personally distribute care packages and provide a hot meal to those in need.  Other possible services include hair cuts, a clothing drive and activities for children.  We need your support to make this event a success!

Your donation will also help provide opportunities for elementary school aged children to demonstrate their willingness and ability to help in their communities beyond this holiday season.  Fostering an attitude of gratitude early in life will benefit the kids as they grow into capable, caring adults.  Thank you for your support!
