Smartphone Free Childhood Worthing
Donation protected
Hello we are a group of mums and dads in Worthing who are on a mission to make Worthing a safe place for our children to grow up.
We are aware of the new research which shows that mobile phones can impact on children's mental health, ability to concentrate and sleep. Many of us have experienced ourselves how addictive scrolling on phones can be and hear stories from families struggling to influence how much time their children spend on their phones. It replaces exercise, socialising and real world play. We also know that having access to the whole world in your pocket is not safe for children, who are regularly exposed to some pretty horrible websites, videos and chats.
The solution is not as simple as just not getting your child a smart phone as we know many of their friends will have phones and some schools even promote the use of phones in lessons. We want to change this.
We have joined the grassroots movement for a Smartphone Free Childhood and want to reach out to as many families as possible to sign the pact and agree not to give our children smartphones until they are at least 14.
We would like to promote the pact at school fairs, cafes and public spaces around Worthing. To do this we need materials such as flyers, posters, banners and t-shirts - so this is what we are fundraising for.
If you can spare a few pounds to help us on our mission to promote a Smartphone Free Childhoods we would really appreciate it. If you would like to find out more or join us on our mission, please follow this link SFC West Sussex .
Thank you!
