Help for the Smith Family
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Stacey. I am fundraising for my sister Susan and her family. Her husband, Michael, suffered a stroke in September of 2021, at the age of 43. He can no longer work or drive and has extensive rehab ahead of him which is not fully covered by insurance. He has lost the use of his left side and needs asisstance with everyday living, which, at the moment, is being provided by my sister and his children. This has been a life-altering event for everyone in the family. Michael was the main provider of the family and now that has become my sister's priority. Even though she is his main caregiver, she also has a job. Having to take time off for all his doctor's appointments and rehab sessions has now put her employment in jeopardy as well. She also has health issues which makes this even harder on her. This has caused a financial strain and physical and mental strain for everyone, including their 2 children, Matthew and Sara. She has applied for several different assistance programs with no luck. There are long waiting periods due to covid and many of the programs they do not even qualify for. My sister has always been the person that would give you the shirt off her back, the last $20 in her wallet, or give you a shoulder to cry on. She would never ask for help, even when she is now the one in need. Family is everything to her and even though it is hard on her to bear most of the responsibility now, she will grin and bear it for the sake of her family.
Please help me to help them and ease the burden just a little. Even the smallest amount can make a big difference.
