Our beloved historic theatre is being sold and we need your help to ensure our Performing Arts Center continues to be the center of
Smithtown!
The Smithtown Performing Arts Center is under new management. Our new Board of Directors is committed to breathing new life back into the theatre, build new relationships and serve our community. As a not for profit, we are a board of professionals who volunteer our time to make this happen. This is our Passion Project for you - our community.
The building's owner moved out of state and is selling the theatre. We want to ensure the building is not sold to private investors, who may destroy the theatre.
The Smithtown Performing Arts Center was first opened in 1932 as a 500 seat movie house and has been showcasing talented artists, music venues, plays, movies, musicals and such for almost 90 years! The theatre has been a center of cultural life in Smithtown and continues to provide amazing productions, classes and camps to educate youth and attract residents to local businesses.
Our Goals:
1. Purchase the building at 2 East Main Street.
2. Repair and restore the building to its original historic beauty so generations of residents can continue to enjoy the arts in the heart of Smithtown.
But we can't do this without you! By donating today to Smithtown Performing Arts Counsel Inc., you can ensure this historic building isn't torn down. Together, we can make the arts a permanent fixture in beautiful downtown Smithtown.
