Want to join me in eating s'mores and making a difference for the one in ten Americans suffering from rare diseases?
The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) and the work they do for research, advocacy, and support for those with one or more of the 1,200+ known rare disorders and cancers is near and dear to my heart. My life and future plans were altered last year because of my own medical journey.
Over the years I've moved 11 times and two things stay the same no matter where I live. First, each year we celebrate my half birthday on October 29th by eating s'mores with Hershey chocolate. Hershey now means more to me than just perfectly melted chocolate on s'mores- it is an incredible children's medical center to which I will always be grateful. Second, I meet amazing and generous people like you everywhere I go. I am inviting you to join me in donating to NORD and enjoying s’mores.
While I am in a time of waiting medically, I am not a wait-around kind of kid. I may not be able to change my journey, but I can partner with you to be an agent of change in our world. On October 29 donors are invited to pick up individual s’more kits with Hershey’s chocolate locally in Alexandria, VA. Additionally, a generous donor has agreed to match all donations up to $5,000. My goal is to raise a total of $10,000 to help improve the lives of millions of people.
Please consider donating and enjoying s'mores between now and October 29th. Show your love and support for this grassroots movement by posting your s’more creations on social media with #Smores4Rare. Check us out on Facebook at S’mores4Rare.
