Snails on a Bike's Eurydice
Donation protected
Hello friends, family, and theater lovers!
We are a group of passionate Chicago-based theater artists putting on Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice, and we're asking for your help!
What?
Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice is a contemporary adaptation that reimagines the myth of Orpheus through Eurydice’s eyes as she journeys to the Underworld and reencounters her deceased father. It is a story of trees and stones, rooms made of string and strings tied around fingers. Underneath the music of falling rain, it is a story of how to love someone across great distance and how the people we’ve lost live on in memory. Our site-specific production will be performed at The Wild Mile on the Chicago River, “a wildlife first.. public greenspace” created and maintained by Urban Rivers, which is designed to restore and support the natural ecosystem of the river bank. We are beyond excited to perform in such a beautiful space!
Who are we?
Snails on a Bike is a collective of Chicago-based theatre artists that specializes in performing plays in site-specific, found spaces. We are most excited about work that explores the intricacy of human relationships; all the messiness and beauty of what it means to love in our current social context. We are dedicated to fostering a collaborative and consent-forward environment, where each artist is free to contribute and advocate for themselves and their ideas.
This production is the collaborative effort of the following artists:
Directors: Faith Hart and Jill Marlow
Producer: Izzy Valdés
Cast: Isabel Alamin, Sam Boek, Magdalena Dalzell, Madie Doppelt, Nathan Reilly, Jordan Tannous, Joey Walsh
Fight/Intimacy Direction: Kira Nutter
Music Director and Composer: Jake Sorgen
Where would your donation go?
We are so grateful to The Wild Mile for allowing us to use their space and supporting us in bringing this production to life! We are asking for your help to get us all the way there. Donations will cover the cost of rights for the play, publicity materials, props and costumes, and contracted artistic support (intimacy direction, graphic design etc.). Any remaining funds will be distributed among the artists after the production, as we firmly believe that young artists should be paid for their work.We also believe that theatre should be accessible for all audiences, and your donation will help us keep ticket prices low (all performances will be pay what you can, with a suggested donation of $15.00).
Coming to the show?
Follow us on instagram (@snailsonabike), and stay updated on when tickets are available through our website! Performances will be August 23st-25th, August 30th-September 2nd, and September 7th and 8th. We can't wait to see you there!
