Snowboard Bindings for Double Above Knee Amputees
Donation protected
Hi Everyone
OK, so here's the update on the progression with the Bindings Project.
We got back from the AFPST/Invictus skills development trip in one piece and the trip could not have gone better. Well to be honest Chesh (Lee) picked up an injury on day five so things could have gone a little better for him, he’s all good though and on the mend.
Thanks to the generosity of all of you in our ‘GoFundMe Support Network’ we were able to get a pair of bindings made in time for the trip. Ian Jones at Limb Solutions did a stirling job with a few late nights involved to get the Bindings made in time for the trip. We took it in turns to ride the ‘new set’ over the 10 day trip and all three of us were very impressed with their performance.
These bindings are the latest iteration of the ‘heavy’ stainless steel non suspended bindings (NSB's) that we have been using for a few years now. Essentially we have replicated the NSB's in Carbon Fibre (CFNSB's) and in the words of our newest member Ben they are ‘Game Changers’. They are lighter, which was one of our development priorities, enabling general movement on and off of the slopes to be less arduous and allowing much greater manoeuvrability when riding.
Having successfully completed this phase of development means that we can now push forward with some fine tuning and development of the CFNSB3's and enable other DAK amputees to try the sport of snowboarding and experience both the thrill of riding and the exhilaration of the mountain environment.
The success of this development trip has been down to you, our supporters. Without your support we would not have been able to get the Carbon Fibre Bindings made in time and for this we at DAKSCom.org.uk thank you enormously.
We are going to keep this GoFundMe page running and will update both this and our website dakscom.org as news of developments arise. Please feel free to repost and pass on through socials and any other platforms.
Once again a massive thanks from all of us at DAKSCom for all of your help and support in getting us to this point.
All the very best for now
DAKSCom.
PS. Both Swifty and Ben will be competing at the Brits at Tamworth Snowdome on the 11th May 24 in the Banked Slalom event...we’ll let you know how it goes.
Thanks again Everyone
