Snowfall - A Film About Visual Snow Syndrome
Donation protected
My name is Eliot O'Brien, and for the past year I have been suffering from a condition known as visual snow syndrome. This rare neurological disorder has affected my eyesight and hearing, and completely altered the way I perceive the world around me.
With a group of fellow students from the Northern Film School in Leeds, we are hoping to produce a short film that captures the experience of living with this condition. Using camera trickery and visual effects, we want to show the effect the wide variety of symptoms has over "normal" vision. The film will be shot from a character's point of view in a variety of locations and end in a strange, surreal environment.
Throughout the film, we want to include the experiences of other people who suffer from visual snow (VS), their first time discovering the condition, how it changed them and how they learned to live with it.
We have started this fundraiser because we need extra funds to help finish working on a set we've been building, at Prime Studios in Leeds. The funds will contribute towards materials and props to complete the set and make it look as good as possible.
We plan to use it for the final scenes of the film where we explore symptoms of depersonalisation many VS sufferers deal with, where they often feel detached from themselves and the rest of the world. Therefore, any contributions would be greatly appreciated!
This condition is poorly understood and relatively unknown, and I hope that making this film could raise awareness that could help spur research into finding treatment options or even a cure.
If you would like to find out any more information about the condition, visit the visual snow initiative at: https://www.visualsnowinitiative.org/
Also, if you have visual snow and would like to share your experience with us to include in the film, don't hesitate to get in touch!
Thank you for your help!
