Snowy Owl Coffee Roasters is a specialty coffee micro-roaster and cafe founded in 2015 in Brewster, MA, by Shayna Ferullo and Manuel Ainzuain. We are a family-owned business with 2 locations in Cape Cod, which is a seasonal destination that happens to have a really cool year-round resident community. We thrive on serving our freshly roasted coffee and other high quality drinks and foods with exceptional customer service, 12 months of the year. We also thrive by inviting everyone, from all walks of life, into our cozy space in historic Brewster. And, by putting continued thought and care into our products and service, we have attracted a team of exceptional staff members who constantly strive to do better, be better, and serve better. That has allowed us to grow our leaders from within our company and continue to improve our processes and service to our customers with each year of operation.
Though we considered keeping our cafe open as a grab and go establishment, we remain resolute that the best and safest decision right now for all stakeholders is to keep our cafe doors closed during this first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are monitoring the situation on Cape Cod closely and are hoping to reopen as soon as we, along with our local leaders and officials, deem it safe to do so.
Baristas, like many in the food service industry, earn a sizable plurality of their income via gratuity and tips. Though we feel proud that we can offer a decent wage at Snowy Owl Coffee, there is no question that gratuity from our customers helps to pay for the cost of food, transportation, medical care, rent and the overall rising cost of living on Cape Cod. Gratuity, however, is not part of a base wage that is used to calculate unemployment and other emergency assistance.
In these extraordinary circumstances, we are joining other cafes across the United States and are asking for your support to help our hardworking, talented baristas that will be ready to jump back onto the front lines when it is safe to do so. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to help cover tips for employees for a two month span. The employees will receive 100% of the proceeds raised. We simply ask you to contribute what you can, and/or shares this message with your local networks, especially if you know and love our incredible team at Snowy Owl. As the old saying goes, “a little bit goes a long way,’ and our team will be grateful for anything you could give.
Thank you for taking your time to read this and thank you for showing love and support to our team during these unprecedented times. Take care of yourselves and be kind to one another. We are all in this together and, collectively at Snowy Owl, we cannot wait until we can open our doors and see our community again.
