Camp Nej
Donation protected
Founded in 1963 by Senator John A. Nejedly, Camp Nejedly is a wilderness adventure camp located in the High Sierras serving youth ages 10 and older with physical disabilities as well as youth in Contra Costa County. The camp is run by John A.'s son, Jim Nejedly, and his family in conjunction with Contra Costa Youth Council. Although the facilities are provided for the camp for youth with physical disabilities , it is run by the City of Sacramento, Department of Parks and Recreation, Access Leisure, section.
Camp Nejedly provides an authentic wilderness experience that includes a 12 mile, rugged drive provided by supporters from many 4 Wheel Drive clubs, sleeping under the stars, boating, swimming, arts and crafts, hiking, skits, evening activities, and of course, nature activities and campfires nightly.
This unique camp for youth with physical disabilities is offered annually at no cost to each of the campers that attend. The cost to sponsor a camper with a disability is $2,500 per youth. This cost includes transportation, meals, all activities and one-on-one camper to counselor ratio as well as a Professional Camp Director, full time nurse, nature specialist, waterfront director, lifeguards and chef.
Camps run for Contra Costa County youth are also provided at no cost and include transportation, meals and facilities.
Each Camper that attends "Camp Nej" leaves with a profound appreciation for the natural world and develops life-long friendships, a strong sense of independence, and a deep belief in their ability to achieve anything they desire.
Please donate with the confidence that 100% of your donation (less the Go Fund Me administration fee) will be used for the sole purpose of funding this camp. We welcome donations in any amount!
