SO 310 Diaper Drive
Donation protected
Washburn University's SO 310 Social Class in the U.S. class is trying to raise awareness for Community Action's Diaper Depot, which provides diaper assistance for families in need within the Shawnee County area. One out of three mothers experience a need for diapers. Many assistance programs like SNAP and WIC, do not include diapers. One year of diapers can cost a family more than $950 or $18 a week per child. Not only are diapers needed for health and hygienic reasons, a lack of diapers will keep children out of daycare programs.
Community Action of Topeka is a leading local agency to assist families with overcoming challenges. Community Action runs a wide range of programs including Head Start and Food Assistance. This partnered project is a great opportunity for students to utilize sociological lessons, assist families in need, and raise awareness of the diaper need issue.
Your contributions will be a cash donation to Community Action.
Our 2021 Diaper Drive is scheduled to run from March 15th to April the 11th.
For more information, please contact Dr. Sangyoub Park at ([email redacted]) If you are not interested in donating money online or in-person, contact Dr. Park via email about how to donate diaper items moving forward.
