Salt, Rice & Soap for Uganda

Donation protected
In just a few weeks, Sophie and I will leave for Uganda. Thanks to your gifts, all of our expenses have been fully funded, but we are trying to raise $961 for specific gifts for the people we will serve.

These are not fancy gifts! But they will help with real-life needs:

1. Before we teach biblical peacemaking at the women’s conference, we will visit each home in the community to read the Bible and pray with the women. When I asked if we could bring a gift for each family (thinking of Huckleberry Jam or some sort of Montana-themed-happy/easy gift), I was humbled to be asked by our host if it might be possible to try to give each family one bar of soap, and small packages of rice and salt because recent flooding has left the community without food and in deep need of sanitation.

The cost for each family to receive salt, soap, and rice is $5 per family. Would you please consider donating $5 and sponsoring one family?

2. We would like to bring some soccer balls and at least two ball pumps for the 150+ children who will be attending the conference with their mothers. I've never looked up the cost of a soccer ball or pump before, but it looks like each costs around $12, so we are hoping to raise $288 for 20 soccer balls and 4 pumps.

3. We have learned that the women we will serve are in great need of feminine care products. I'm trying to raise $423.62 for reusable menstrual pads and cups and maxipads. (I never thought I'd be fund-raising for that need! But I'm so glad the ministry could tell me what they really needed.)

4. When I asked the ministry leader to "dream big," she mentioned that a used smartphone and used laptop would be life-changing for the ministry. Do you have an old phone or laptop that you could donate? Fred said he could clear the memory FOR SURE and bring your technology back to factory specs (so no risk that way!). Please just drop me a note if you'd like to donate something "in-kind" like this (tara "at" tarabarthel.com).

PLEASE NOTE: if you'd like a receipt for tax purposes, donations will need to go directly to Rocky Mountain Community Church, 2832 Broadwater Ave, Billings MT 59102. Otherwise, you can make a donation here (on GoFundMe) or send donations directly to our home: The Barthels, 929 Alderson Ave, Billings MT 59101.

We fly to Uganda on Monday, November 14, so if you're willing to give $5 for soap/rice/salt or help with the other needs, your quick response will allow me to get everything purchased and packed ASAP.

Thank you!!

Love you!!
