SOAR SWIM & STEM - iFLY SUMMER STEM EXPERIENCE

SOAR SWIM & STEM serves to enlighten, engage and empower underserved and underrepresented students in Grades 2-5 in the metro Detroit area with a solid foundation for success, providing critical, life-long skills and experiences to help them

SOAR: Travel to experience learning hands-on outside of the traditional classroom

SWIM: Learn the basics of swimming, water safety and CPR

STEM: Exercise and hone the skills required for confidence, interest and long-term success in STEM-related subjects and careers.

The first of our upcoming contributions will help sponsor 20-24 students for our second iFLY STEM Experience in partnership with iFLY Detroit. Through this experience, students will learn about the physics of indoor and outdoor skydiving and terminal velocity based on an object's mass, frontal area and gravity. The overall goal of our STEM program is to get more underrepresented students interested in STEM subjects earlier in their educational journey using fun activities outside of a typical classroom and help increase test scores, grades and self-confidence in Science and Math as they matriculate into middle school.

Additional contributions will help fund expenses for SOAR trips, SWIM gear, pool rental and licensed and experienced staff, STEM tools and programs as well as vendors, employees, service providers for after-school and summer programming and a future homesite for the organization within the City of Detroit.
