SOAS UCU Hardship Fund
Donation protected
Workers at SOAS urgently need your support in carrying forward their industrial action in the face of employer threats and intimidation.
SOAS has chosen to deduct 100% of wages from any of its workers that participate in a marking and assessment boycott, or anyone that refuses to even declare a future intention to participate.
SOAS is also withholding pension payments to these workers so that the total deduction amounts to effectively 120%.
A marking an assessment boycott is an action short of a strike, currently being undertaken across the country by members of the University and Colleges Union (UCU). The action has been called to achieve a better pay deal for university workers that have had their real terms pay cut by over 25% since 2009.
SOAS is one of only 16 universities in the UK that have remained committed to such punitive and disproportionate deductions in an attempt to break this action.
Your donation to the SOAS UCU hardship fund will help defend workers from any hardship imposed on them by the employer as a result of these deductions.
Your donation to the hardship fund will help workers resist the employer’s attempt to starve out legitimate and lawful trade union activity.
