S.O.B.  SAVE OUR BAR! - Kick-Ass edition Welcome to the Blue Mule Saloon's GoFund me.  Short and simple. Covid-19 has wreaked havoc on a lot of small businesses and our bar is no different.  We need a little help, and we're trying everything.  The owner of the complex we lease from is not offering any abatement to us in this pandemic. Since the government forced us to close our doors we've been left with promises of support from stimulus packages that have fallen through. We've applied for grants and the SBA Loans (PPP) with two denials given due to a lack of available funds.  The money raised will go to paying rent, utilities and personnel .   Here's a little bit about us, and why we are fighting to SAVE OUR BAR. The Mule has been around since the '70s and has been a local watering hole ever since it opened. It's had very few owners with a tradition of it being passed onto the bar manager once the current owner thinks it's time to chill and retire. Here is where we come in. The Mule has been under Lisa's care for 20 years, the last 13 years with her as the owner.  Lisa's always about giving back to the community and being a positive influence in the community. From food drives, clothing drives, back to school supply, or gathering donations for free events such as her Meet and Greet Santa Clause (that has been going strong for over 8 years), to last years newest edition of Meet the Monsters giving a safe place for the kids in the community to go trick or treating. As you can see our team is all about being part of the community not just making money from the community. A lot of people comment about how she's working on changing the area and giving it a sense of community. Most people simply dismiss the area because of our location in Las Vegas.  We are far from the sparkle and shine of the Vegas image, but you'd never feel like you weren't family when you are here. We come off rough and dive to outsiders, but talk to our customers, or us the bartenders and you'll learn we're just people trying to get through the roller coaster of life while having a few laughs. We're not the new Cheers. We're more like the basement you hang out in with your friends. Where you play pool, drink beer, and throw a house party once in a while.  We're a Dive Bar; Stamped and certified. The donations will go towards keeping our tradition alive by helping us pay our rent/utilities. Once open our weekly sales will go towards operations and payroll. How soon do we need it? As soon as possible. With all the unknowns we'd rather be prepare for the worst while praying for the best. This GoFundme is our way of fighting back. We've made it through recessions, historical devastation, and zoning/licensing changes just to name a few. Our owner is fighting cancer, has survived a debilitating car crash, a coma, countless surgeries, and blood clots yet through all this she's never given up the fight or dropped the ball when it comes to (and I quote her) "keeping the doors opened for our community and my employees".  Usually, the bar is giving aide, but now it's our turn to ask for help. Sadly our community isn't able to help us solely, not from the lack of desire but instead from a lack of means. We get daily text messages, emails, and phone calls from them with suggestions for aide from everyone. We love the effort they are giving to try to help us and we follow through with every suggestion. This GoFund me was a suggestion from a customer, so here we are asking.
