S.O.B.- Save Our Bar Palo Verde
Donation protected
On March 19th, 2020, Palo Verde did what was necessary to be a responsible business in our community and closed its doors. There was no way to know that the closure would extend nearly a year and leave the bar in jeopardy of closing for good.
Chuck Marthaler, the bar owner, was unable to obtain any federal assistance and has exhausted his personal finances to keep the bar alive. Currently, he is delivering beer around the valley to pay the bills, but it’s not enough. The bills continue to accumulate, and reopening may still be a few months away.
I don’t need to describe how rad PV is because everyone already knows. Many people have reached out with concern for the bar and willingness to help, so here we go. Let’s give it a fighting chance – reopening is not too far away, and Chuck has managed nearly a year on his own. Money is the biggest need right now but there are other ways to help. The bar needs people willing to help with cleaning, repairs, and advertising. For those that would like to help with services, reach out to us directly. It would also be wonderful to create something to give back as a thank you to everyone that is able to help. Ideas are welcome.
Tempe is changing fast and if the PV goes under, you’ll likely not see another true dive bar in this town again. So the PV needs you to be an SOB right now, please help.
