Hola amigos, en junio de 2023, mi esposo Renato sufrió un atentado en Ecuador que lo dejó cuadripléjico. A pesar de las dificultades, sigue luchando por su independencia. Ahora tiene la oportunidad de recibir un tratamiento en México que podría mejorar su movilidad y calidad de vida.
El tratamiento es costoso, pero con su apoyo podemos lograr que Renato acceda a esta terapia crucial. ❤
Cuando Renato sufrió el atentado, se lanzó una primera campaña de GoFundMe en la que recaudamos $28,585, lo cual nos ayudó a cubrir los gastos hospitalarios. Desde entonces, hemos estado cubriendo todos los costos de su rehabilitación y cuidados. Ahora, nuevamente recurrimos a su generosidad, empatía y gran corazón.

Hola, mi nombre es Renato, y me encuentro en una situación que jamás pensé vivir. En junio de 2023, en plena época en que en el Ecuador la violencia y la criminalidad mantenían atemorizada a toda la sociedad, fui víctima de un intento de asesinato. Hasta este momento no encuentro ninguna explicación que siquiera justifique -aunque bajo cualquier circunstancia es injustificable dicha barbarie-, que alguien haya querido terminar con mi vida de esa manera. Ni la propia Fiscalía ha sido capaz de dar con todos los autores materiales y peor aún los intelectuales -aquellos que ordenaron terminar conmigo-. Uno solo de los autores materiales, justamente aquel que me disparó, pudo ser capturado (se acogió al derecho al silencio) y se encuentra ya cumpliendo una condena de más de 22 años de prisión. De los nueve disparos que realizó en mi contra me alcanzaron cuatro, uno impactó mi brazo, uno mi cabeza y dos mi cuello. Una de las balas que alcanzó mi cuello destruyó algunas de mis vértebras y cercenó mi médula (en términos médicos mi médula tiene una "lesión completa"), AHORA ESTOY CUADRIPLÉJICO.
En tan sólo cuestión de segundos cambió mi vida de manera drástica e inesperada. Soy abogado y mi ejercicio profesional lo he desempeñado con absoluta transparencia, jamás he actuado de manera injusta ni he causado daño a nadie, por lo que para mí y para las propias autoridades resulta inexplicable que alguien haya enviado "sicarios" en mi contra. Pese a todo, sigo luchando cada día con la esperanza de recuperar mi movilidad y volver a vivir con autonomía.
Desde el atentado, he pasado por un largo proceso de rehabilitación, pero mi progreso ha sido lento y complejo -pero también increíble (porque mi cuerpo ha reaccionado contra todo diagnóstico médico)-. Sigo intentando mantenerme positivo y aunque sinceramente enfrentar esta nueva realidad ha sido muy difícil de asimilar y desgastante tanto física, mental, emocional y económicamente, no pierdo la esperanza y sigo cada día trabajando para recuperarme.
En busca de oportunidades y tratamientos, recientemente junto con mi esposa hemos descubierto Verita Neuro, una clínica especializada en tratamientos innovadores que pueden ayudar a personas en mi situación. Verita Neuro utiliza terapias avanzadas y de vanguardia para la recuperación neurológica, que podrían darme una verdadera oportunidad de volver a caminar y retomar mi vida a través de la implantación de un dispositivo neurotransmisor, la implantación de células madre y terapias específicas para mi lesión.
Después de investigar profundamente, consultar con especialistas y conversar con pacientes que han recibido y/o se encuentran en tratamiento en la clínica, este tratamiento es mi MEJOR OPORTUNIDAD. Sin embargo, su costo es elevado y, lamentablemente, luego de más de un año desde el atentado, se han agotado nuestros recursos económicos.
Entre el tratamiento en Verita Neuro, pasajes aéreos, estadía y posteriormente la adquisición y adaptación en nuestra casa de todo el equipamiento que contribuirá a mi rehabilitación, necesitamos un aproximado de $215,000, suma que desafortunadamente no podemos costear. Con tu apoyo, podré acceder a esta oportunidad que podría cambiar positivamente mi vida para siempre. Cada donación me acerca un paso más a mi objetivo final. I Survived, Now I’m Fighting to Walk Again
Hello, my name is Renato, and I find myself in a situation I never thought I would be in. In June 2023, in the middle of a time when violence and crime in Ecuador kept society in fear, I was the victim of an assassination attempt. To this day, I cannot find any explanation to justify -although such barbarity is unjustifiable under any circumstance- why someone wanted to end my life in such a way. The Prosecutor’s Office has not been able to find all of the perpetrators, much less the masterminds behind the attack. Only one of the perpetrators, precisely the one who shot me, has been captured (he took the right to remain silent) and is already serving a sentence of more than 22 years in prison. Of the nine shots he fired at me, four hit me; one hit my arm, one hit my head and two hit my neck. One of the bullets that hit my neck destroyed some of my vertebrae and severed my spinal cord (in medical terms “complete spinal cord injury”), AND NOW I AM A QUADRIPLEGIC.
In just a matter of seconds my life changed drastically and unexpectedly. I am a lawyer, and my professional practice has been carried out with absolute transparency. I have never acted unfairly or caused harm to anyone, and as such, it is inexplicable for me and for authorities that someone had sent “hired killers” to do this. In spite of everything, I continue to fight every day in the hope of regaining my mobility and living independently again.
Since the attack, I have gone through a long rehabilitation process. While my progress has been slow and complex, it has also been incredible (because my body has reacted, contrary to every medical diagnosis). I try to remain positive, and while facing this new reality has been very difficult to assimilate and physically, mentally, emotionally and economically exhausting, I have not lost hope, and I keep working every day towards recovery.
While searching for opportunities and treatments, my wife and I discovered Verita Neuro, a clinic specializing in innovative treatments that can help people in my situation. Verita Neuro uses advanced and cutting-edge therapies for neurological recovery, which could give me a real chance to walk again and resume my life through the implantation of a neurotransmitter device, stem cell implantation and therapies specific to my injury.
