Social security makes a bad call

My name is penelope. I am 74 and live with my 42 year old cognitively disabled son. He started working when in high school but has never been able to work a 40 hour week or for 8 hours. He’s always worked part time at unskilled jobs such as grocery store clerk or custodial staff.
In march of 2023 social security wrote to me, as his representative, and informed me that because he works he can be employed and has been collecting social security incorrectly. They have demanded he pay them $58,000. Then in November, they wrote to me and informed me that they are seizing my social security to offset his debt.
We had been living with a couple for 7 years when they took $100,000 i had saved for his future and threw us out of their house. We moved to Arizona and snagged a small house from a small sum i got from my family’s estate. (my sister and brother looted millions from my mother’s estate, so we were lucky to get $50k.)
on 1 January, no social security. So our income was halved from March, then zeroed out on 1 January.
my son has brain damage from oxygen deprivation at birth. He cannot find suitable work, much less be “gainfully employed.” When he does work, he needs help. Social security has decided that he not only can work but can and should return the disability payments he earned by working pushing carts and helping people at the grocery store. We have a small mortgage and monthly bills. I need help making our monthly bills until social security, hopefully, finds that he is entitled to his disability payments. So far, it has been almost a year and the SSA shows no signs of reversing their decision.
