SODELA Community COVID-19 Burial Fund

In 2010, a group of refugees from East Africa came together and formed SODELA, a community-based nonprofit organization based in Knoxville, TN. SODELA  advocates for recently resettled refugees and new U.S. citizens  in the Knoxville area, helping them access the resources they need such as interpretation, transportation, and adult education.  Most recently, SODELA has been responding to COVID-19 by helping to stop the spread of the coronavirus by providing masks, education, and cleaning supplies to Knoxville's refugee community. Sadly, we've also been helping to cover the cost of funeral expenses for members of our community lost to COVID.   We recently lost one community member to COVID, and we now are caring for an additional 5 individuals who are in critical condition. All funds raised will be used to cover the cost of cemetery plots and funeral expenses for those lost to COVID.  We are so grateful for your support--it means a tremendous amount to our community.
