Help us launch our PodCast
Southern Discomfort is a brand new, still in pre-production, podcast featuring Jordy Barwick and Matt Oxley (of RagingRev.com ), two Southern gentlemen taking on uncomfortable topics for the Deep South; religion, politics, poverty, heritage, slavery, race, and practically any other matter you can imagine that isn't appropriate conversation around upstanding citizens of our fair land.
One of us is a fine Christian man, Jordy, and he's not that sort of Christian that shows up to shake hands on Sunday either - no. He's the genuine artifact, a rare commodity, gentle - kind - compassionate, and funny - he even knows his way around a pulpit.
The other, Matt...he's no friend of the faith if you ask most people and in large part they aren't wrong. He's an atheist - I think that just means he don't go to church on Wednesday nights, I'm not sure. I do know he talks an awful lot about religion, civil rights, #blacklivesmatter, and all sorts of things that you don't talk about in polite company. You might call him a professional rabble rouser.
Together these two will be talking about issues with the passion and perspective that seems to be missing from these difficult discussions - and doing so without being afraid to hurt some feelings or say something unpopular.
The goal:
To start a conversation about important subjects. To teach people how to reach across the table and to talk to those with whom they vehemently disagree. To learn from one another and to teach people the importance of nuance, change, and movement in a community...where those things are often discouraged.
Sit back with a glass of fresh iced tea on the davenport, we won't tell if you slip a little whiskey in, and give us a listen. It'll be worth your while.
Why do we need your help?
Well - the equipment to put together a quality sounding podcast is expensive, and that's without going for the extremely high end stuff. We need a little boost to help us get everything we need to get started without having to piecemeal this thing together - we believe in the power of duct-tape and mamma's spit just like the rest of you, but for quality sound engineering... well...it just won't work.
$750 should get us everything we need to cover the costs of getting this thing started.
