Help Sofie to complete her PhD
Donation protected
Sofie is a 25-year-old university student from Norway who is currently pursuing a PhD in England and is doing a dissertation on techniques to assign sex to human remains based on the characteristics of their sinuses. This research could be used to help assign sex to human remains both for archaeological remains as well as criminal investigations to help provide archaeologists and investigators with more information about a subject's sex where no other identifying information can be discerned.
Sofie currently receives money from the Norwegian government in the form of loans and from some other smaller grants, but currently doesn't have the funds to pay for high-definition CAT scans of specimens (skeletal remains) that she would need to complete her research. The money she currently receives from these various sources is enough to cover tuition expenses, most living essentials (a flat, food, etc) and some scanning, but she's currently unable to find funding to scan the rest of the specimens needed to develop a robust algorithm to sex human skeletal remains with a high degree of certainty. She does all of the CAT scanning herself at her university, which costs £40/hr and takes countless hours (the CAT scans she does take much longer, as the images have to be much higher quality than normal scans).
Completing this dissertation and finishing her PhD means the world to her and she truly loves the work she does. Unfortunately, if she's not able to find funding to continue scanning specimens, she may have to abandon her research and stop pursuing her PhD. Please help me in enabling Sofie to chase her dreams, finish her research and PhD, and work in a field that she truly loves!
Donations will be used to go towards CAT scanning costs assoociated with Sofie's PhD. £40 covers one hour's worth of scanning skeletal remains. Every dollar counts, so thank you for your generosity!
