Reconstructive surgery Soft palete and vet bills

Hello my name is Toby. I am a 12 week old super cute, and funny French bulldog. It’s been recently discovered that I have a rare condition where I was born with a short soft palate. As I grow problems become more common, and more severe. When ever I drink water it likes to come back through my nose. I always feel like I am drowning! I am learning that if I stick my nose in the air it helps me to swallow it better. Over time food has started to make me cough which indicates it’s getting stuck in the roof of my mouth. If it gets stuck where I can’t cough it out it’s going to cost mom and my grandma an arm, and a leg to take me to an emergency vet. To have it cleared, and this repaired under “emergency”. Mom said most vets won’t touch even consider helping without money… so that’s a really scary thought.

Thankfully mom has been taking me to the vet to find out what’s going on. They shoved their fingers in my mouth (which was NOT fun!!) to push my tongue down to get a “look inside”. (Turns out I was born with large tonsils! Who would have known?!) I was very squirmy so they decided to get a the best look would be to gas me so I would relax. Well that’s when we where told I have the rare condition of a short soft palate. Dr said he’s never seen it in the entire 40 years he’s been a veterinarian! Why me?!

I have been told to see a surgeon to get a reconstructive surgery done. We have been told, but honestly don’t know the exact amount just yet. That it could costs us up to $5,000 DOLLARS!!!

Mom and grandma about fainted. But they love me and want me to live a more comfortable life. The vet visits and those bills along the way are getting tough to handle all at once. This is why we decided to make a go fund me. Anyone’s support is greatly appreciated! We are waiting for the appointment coordinator to call us back to make the appointment. We already know it’s required and promise to make updates along the way..

****p.s. On September 14th 2023 we got confirmation of total costs for surgery $2200-$3500. Please check update for information on these costs and fill free to call the vets office to verify.

we have already put in about $500 toward bills getting to this point. May end up becoming more over time. Please keep Toby in your prayers. We do not want home to choke or aspirate in the time being.

*** we have now gotten a call that the costs are more because the second surgeon believes it’s going to cost 4500 to 5500 did to it being much more complex than the first surgeon thought
