The Mary from Dungloe International Arts Festival is calling on the festival’s fans around the world to help support its future with a €2 donation.
The festival’s new appeal, SOFT, for Save Our Festivals Together, recognises that businesses will not be in a position to support and sponsor the festival and its partner events in 2021 as they have done over these past 53 years. This year, the festival committee is asking each person who loves the festival to donate just €2, £2, $2, or whatever currency they have, to ensure the festivals can return strong next year.
The extraordinary circumstances this year have led to the first time the Mary From Dungloe International Arts Festival has cancelled since the annual, 10-day event was first held in 1967. Over the years the festival has become the highlight of many thousands of visitors’ and local calendars and has also grown to host festivals in Burtonport, Maghery and Meenacross during the Mary From Dungloe period.
The festival’s past, present and future Marys will be running the appeal. Be on the look-out for a series of videos with handy reminders of where you might find €2, whether down the back of the sofa, in an old handbag or even in the washing machine.
Every donation is welcome, and if we all come together we can help save and support the festivals for 2021. Saving the festivals is vital for the economy of the Rosses as well as to for the heritage and culture we are so proud of. It also means that we can give back to the towns for all the support and sponsorship they have given us over the years.
So we encourage everyone who loves the festival to be SOFT, to keep the Mary From Dungloe International Festival and our Rosses communities strong.
